Development Of The Idea Of Family Worship From The Reformed Theologians Perspective, The
The idea of family worship may not be a common spiritual practice in our modern home today. The Reformed churches have different views of the concept of having daily family worship, some reformed pastors would deem it an optional practice, subject to the feasibility of family members and suitability of the head of the household. Even ministers or pastors might not adopt family worship themselves due to various practical reasons. The abandonment of family worship has many roots. However, the question remains: is family worship a biblical practice? Or is family worship just an optional practice for families which have children? This, thesis, thus, seeks to answer this question by exploring whether family worship is biblical grounded. This thesis will explore the theological views of family worship. We will also look into what some of the reformed theologians said about family worship and how they might have practiced it throughout the 16th to 21 st centuries. It is the aim of this thesis to demonstrate how family worship might very well be the missing spiritual practice which could reignite our family, church and society in our post modern world today.
